The Law of Love

Love is fulfilled in this: "Love one another" (1 John 4: 21) and in this: "Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind, and with all thy strength" (Mark 12: 30). The very reason for creation is love. God loved and wanted to be loved.

When Christ came into the world, he gave himself, even unto death, and he took our sins and our sicknesses upon himself (Matt. 8: 17), THAT HE MIGHT IMPART TO US GOD'S LOVE. When we receive him, God's love then dwells in our hearts by faith. But there is the law of love which operates within us and brings forth the love that Christ had. The law of love is automatically operated by its purpose and for its purpose, which is GIVING.

A rose bush because of its NATURE bears roses. -The bush will put all it has into a rose bud until it unfolds into a beautiful rose; then the bush puts all its inner forces into the appearance of its blooms for the delight of others, until at last the petals droop and fall off.

The bush has accomplished what it was made to do. The law of nature operates automatically in that bush not because of what it is not, but because of what it is and the law of love is the same.

Love is the law of the new creation which automatically operates by and for the purpose for which God created it. The bush automatically gives forth life into the roses, in order that it might be a blessing to others. Thus the purpose of the rose is to give itself for others and this purpose puts into action the natural law which causes the bush to give life to the rose, in turn to fulfil the purpose for which it came.

The REASON for mankind is love. The purpose of love is to give itself for others (John 3: 16) - "For God so LOVED . . . that he GAVE ...'

We derive our life from the Word of God - our spiritual life, that is. Says Christ, "I am the vine, ye are the branches" (John 15). Jesus Christ is the vine (or the "bush"). His life flows through us, and we blossom forth in love. His life IS love - God's own love. The purpose of love is to give, and so the law of love operates by and for this purpose.

When the roses stop blooming the bush stands dry and loses its greenness. Why? Because the purpose of the bush is fulfilled and the law of nature ceases to function. When Christians cease to give out love in like manner the law of love comes to a standstill; it has lost its purpose. But when we give ourselves to our purpose the law of love operates. The scriptures for operating the law of love are the words of Christ in Luke 6: 38.

1."Give" (this is your part).

2. "And it shall be given unto you, good measure, pressed down and running over" (God's part).

It is a law which operates automatically. When the rose blooms, naturally the bush will continue to give out its life. When love gives, naturally the law of love gives back to you, "pressed down and running over." You will never be short of spiritual blessings in your heart, revelations from the Lord, blessings to pass on to others or material blessings. Truly you will have wealth untold. So operate the law of love now!
