You are Righteous

If you have accepted Jesus Christ as your Saviour you have become a child of God. You have the Spirit of Christ dwelling within you and God declares you to be righteous. Why? Because "God looketh on the heart" (1 Sam. 16: 7). Man, on the other hand looks at the outward appearance.
Christ is dwelling within you and you have his righteousness. Does this righteousness depend upon your actions and deeds to he established? No, a thousand times no! It depends upon his Word which declares you righteous. Therefore you are righteous because he declares you so in his Word.

He has not depended upon your actions. When Christ died upon the cross and rose again in newness of life he did this for YOU! YOU! were declared righteous in the eyes of God and according to his eternal laws and justice, it is a finished work. You are now declared righteous! As John 7: 24 says, "Judge not according to the appearance (superficially) but judge righteous judgment."

Now what about your actions and ways? As you rest in his Word the fruit of righteousness will be brought forth in you, thus it is always HIS work, not your works, which are manifested in your life. You are made righteous in spirit and as the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has made you free from the law of sin and death, so the law of the Spirit of life WITHIN YOU is automatically working to bring forth good fruits.`

You look neither to fruits nor actions for a foundation but you look to the Word only. The Word declares that you are now righteous and that you will bring forth fruit in due season, as you rest in his Word. So you see it is by FAITH that we are made righteous and not by works. Here are a few scriptures upon which to base your faith.

By Faith Our Righteousness

Col. 2: 6-"As ye have therefore RECEIVED Christ Jesus the Lord (i.e.., by faith), so WALK ye in him."

Rom. 4: 5--- "But to him that worketh not, but believeth on him that justifieth the ungodly, his faith is counted for righteousness."

Phil. 3: 9-"And be found in him, not having mine own righteousness which is of the law (striving and bondage), but that which is through the faith of Christ, the righteousness which is of God by faith."

It is REST and FREEDOM by faith. Rest in God's Word it is He who has declared you righteous, so just believe him.

No Condemnation

Rom. 8: 1, 2 "There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus (saved) who walk not after the flesh but after the Spirit (to walk thus is to confess God's Word), for the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free from the law of sin and death."

John 3: 18 "He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already . . . "

John 5: 24 "Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that heareth my word, and believeth on him that sent me hath everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation: but is passed from death unto life."

These verses reveal that those who belong to Christ are free from condemnation, the Word is quite definite about this. You are righteous not because you feel it, or look it or act it but because the Word says you are. Stand upon this declaration in the face of contradictory actions and circumstances. He will perform that which we believe because he has written it. He honours his Word. So rest in these truth do not strive or become bound but enjoy your God given peace and freedom (John 8: 36; 14: 27).

Bondage and striving are works of the law. Rest and freedom are works of grace. Confess what you are in Christ.
